From Hardship to Hope: The Scott Family’s Journey to a New Beginning

After three challenging years of living in a single hotel room in Farmington, Mychella Scott and her five children have finally found a place to call home in Southfield. Mychella, a single mother who works over 55 hours a week as a nurse’s aide, endured countless sacrifices to provide for her family. During their time at the hotel, the children, ranging in age from 12 to 24, often slept on the floor.

Now, the family has moved into a three-bedroom house fully furnished with donations from the Furniture Bank. The new home is equipped with everything they need, including bunk beds, dressers, mattresses, a sofa, a dining table with six chairs, lamps, dishes, and towels.

For Mychella, this home is an answered prayer.

“I prayed and prayed for this and feel so blessed,” she shared. Her children, who had been homeschooled up until now, are excited to start attending public school for the first time.
